Western Australian Curriculum

Schools cater for students from diverse backgrounds and needs. They can be university-bound, have a specific vocation in mind involving further education and training or be planning to enter the workforce on leaving school.

A range of education and training courses and programs are available to provide all young people with the opportunity to develop knowledge, understanding and skills about themselves, their community and the broader world in which they live.

To cater for differences in interests, rates of learning and motivation, schools can consider a mixture of courses, vocational education and training (VET) and endorsed programs when planning student pathways.

ALBERT INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY IS BRINGING A WORLD CLASS EDUCATION TO YOUR CHILD.

WHY THE WESTERN AUSTRALIAN CURRICULUM?

EXCELLENT EDUCATION

The Western Australian curriculum is widely recognised for its excellence in education, with a strong focus on critical thinking, problem-solving, and literacy and numeracy skills. By implementing this curriculum, we aim to provide your child with a world-class education that prepares them for the top 200 universities globally, such as in the UK, US, and Australia.

INNOVATIVE TEACHING METHODS

The Western Australian curriculum focuses on innovation, cross-disciplinary learning, digital literacy, inquiry-based learning, differentiated learning opportunities, global perspectives, and sustainability to foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking in students. This approach prepares your child for the challenges of the 21st century and helps them develop essential skills for success in a rapidly changing world.

ATAR PATHWAY IN YEARS 11 & 12

The Western Australian Curriculum program gives your child the opportunity to undertake an ATAR pathway in years 11 and 12 to achieve the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). This certificate can then be used when enrolling into universities.

HOW WILL THIS BENEFIT YOUR CHILD

Students who successfully complete year 11 and 12 will receive an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and a Western Australian Certification of Education (WACE) that provides a seamless transition into:

  • ✓ Australia’s universities, including the group of eight
  • ✓ Leading universities around the world, including the US and UK
  • ✓ A wide range of career opportunities

WHAT DOES YOUR CHILD RECEIVE AFTER MEETING THE WACE INTERNATIONAL REQUIREMENT?

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

WACE

The Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) is awarded to senior secondary school students who satisfy its requirements. It is a senior secondary certificate recognized nationally in the Australian Qualifications Framework.

WASSA

The Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement (WASSA) is a transcript. All students receive a WASSA when they complete Year 12. The WASSA formally records a student’s achievement in every course, qualification, and program completed in senior secondary schooling.

ATAR

The Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) is a number between 0.00 and 99.95 that tells your position amongst all the other year 12s that have completed their studies in Western Australia, as well as all of Australia and our school. It is a rank, not a score or mark. For example, an ATAR of 75.00 means you have performed better than 75% of year 12s in Australia, which puts you in the top 25%.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR WACE GRADUATES

Upon graduating from our school with a Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), your child will receive scholarship opportunities to pursue higher education in Australia. Currently, there are two active scholarship programs available.

The first is the Australia Awards program, which is a well-known international development scholarship initiative aimed at strengthening Australia's connections with other countries, such as Cambodia.

Additionally, there is a program in place where 50 international WACE graduates will be awarded the prestigious $20,000 Premier's Western Australian Certificate of Education Bursary if they choose to study at one of Western Australia's universities.
